Margin call

A broker warning that your free margin is too low to sustain your open positions.

It happens when the margin level (equity / used margin) falls below the broker’s threshold, often between 50% and 100%.

If the level keeps falling to the stop-out level, the broker closes positions automatically, usually starting with the biggest loser. The best defence is to risk little per trade and not use all your available margin.
